Donald E. Nelson was born on December 06, 1924, to parents Edward Nelson and Vavene Bradford in near Trent, SD. He attended school in the country school near Trent. As a young man, Don drove truck with his dad before entering the service during WWII. After returning from the service Don moved to Dumont, MN. While there, Don worked on the Ludwig Schmidt farm where he met his bride-to-be, Eva Goodhart.



Don and Eva were married on April 08, 1955 at the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Graceville, MN. To this union one son, Duane was born. In the late 60's, Don and his family moved to Browns Valley, MN. He enjoyed his years working construction, especially on the road crew that built the first tar road between North Dakota and Minnesota near the Canadian border. Don also enjoyed working for the city as a cop and city worker.



Don truly enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends, he cherished all the treasures he found at the auctions and rummage sales he would attend. Don also enjoyed teasing and kidding around with the youngsters in town.



Donald passed away on Monday, December 06, 2004 at his home in Browns Valley. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eva; brother, Leslie Albin Nelson; and one sister, Vernice West.



Survivors include his son Duane (Maggie) Nelson of Waseca, MN; one sister, Blanche (Pete) Peterson of Baltic, SD; a brother-in-law, George A. (Helen) Goodhart of Wilmot, SD; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends.
