Dolores Wilm

Dolores Elaine Wilm, daughter of Arnold and Alma (Behrns) Kaus was born June 16, 1927 in Roberts County, Browns Valley, South Dakota. She was baptized July 31, 1927 by Pastor Engelhard at Zion Lutheran Church. She grew up on a farm 2 miles south of Browns Valley. She attended and graduated from Browns Valley High School 1944.

Dolores worked as a telephone operator for the Eggna and Jung Telephone Companies. Later she worked as a waitress and cook at Ike’s Chicken Shack and Dan’s Cafe. She then cooked at the Browns Valley Nursing Home for many years.

Dolores was united in marriage to Mat Wilm September 28, 1947, at St. Anthony’s Parish by Father Paul Kunkel. They made their home in Browns Valley, Minnesota. Mat past away September 18, 2007.

Dolores enjoyed working with crafts and knitted in her early years. She collected Precious Moments, loved playing solitaire and doing jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and she was known for delicious specialties. She was always ready to make mints for all family functions like weddings and graduations. Dolores loved her family and enjoyed all her nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

Dolores entered the Browns Valley Health Center October 8, 2008. She passed away December 26, 2008 at Coteau des Prairies Hospital. She will be missed by all her family and friends.

She is survived by brother, Gerald (Arlyne) Kaus of Browns Valley, MN; sister-in-law, Mildred Johnson of Browns Valley, MN; 29 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by parents; husband, Mat; brothers, Luvern, Ronald, Donald; sister and husband, Joyce and Don Smith; and brother-in-law Merlyn Johnson.
