DeLoris Carolyn Strobel was born on October 17, 1923, the last of six children, to William and Lillian Jenter in Centerville, SD. She went to a rural elementary school and graduated from Centerville High School. After high school, DeLoris worked for the Sioux Falls Telephone Company and a candy factory. On Feb. 9, 1952 she married Gordon Strobel from Jasper, MN. They made their home on a farm east of Clinton and had three children, Susan, Steven and Sharon. They were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville.
DeLoris enjoyed reading, embroidery, watching TV and traveling. She and Gordon made several trips to Prescott, Arizona, as well as California and Montana.
DeLoris spent most of her life on the farm, which she loved. In addition to being a homemaker and great pie, cookie and Kringla maker, she also had various jobs throughout her lifetime. She sold Avon, and was a cook at the Ortonville Hospital and The Kitchen restaurant in Clinton. She was a Brownie leader, volunteered at Northridge Residence and was part of the Altar Guild at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville.
DeLoris died peacefully on Thursday, August 7th at Northridge Residence knowing her Heavenly Father was waiting for her."
DeLoris is survived by her children: Steven (Kristann) Strobel of Morris, MN, Susan (Greg) Wilson of Owatonna, MN, and Sharon (Vernon) Thompson of Rochester, MN; grandchildren: Matthew and Nicholas Wilson, Lindsey and Timothy Strobel, Amanda and Abigail Thompson; a brother: Orville “Bud” Jenter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
DeLoris is preceeded in death by her husband Gordon; her parents, William and Lillian; 2 brothers, Ellsworth and Eldon; and 2 sisters, Myrtle and Ardis.
