Delores Schwagerl

Delores Frances (Nigg) Schwagerl was born on September 13, 1929, on a farm in Roberts County, South Dakota, to parents, Anton (Tony) and Lillian Maggie (Johnson) Nigg. As a young girl, she attended country school through the 8th grade. Her freshman year of high school was spent at the Morris Agriculture High School in Morris, MN. Delores finished her education by attending Browns Valley High School graduating in 1947.
On September 24, 1947, Delores married James Edward Schwagerl at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley, MN. The couple made their home on a farm near Browns Valley where they raised their family. Delores and Jim continued to live and work on the farm until their retirement when they moved into town. Besides working on the farm, Delores held many different jobs in the area, and enjoyed them all. She worked at the Smith Locker Plant, Lynch Locker Plant, Dan's CafA�AC., Dan's Coliseum (as matron), Baer Hardware, Bee & Bee Department Store, and also served as an Election Judge.
Delores was a very community minded person and enjoyed helping where ever she could. She was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Anthony guild, Christian Mothers, Church Council, American Legion Auxiliary, Browns Valley Alumni, Browns Valley Senior Citizens, Inc., and the Browns Valley Historical Society. Delores also held offices in the Browns Valley Alumni Association and the Christian Mothers Association.
In her spare time, Delores loved traveling with Jim to see family and friends and she cherished the memories made while spending winters in Arizona. Delores also enjoyed quiet time spent reading, crocheting, and the numerous walks around town that she took. She also treasured spending time with friends playing cards, visiting, and even an occasional game of bowling. She will be truly missed by all those that loved her and called her friend.
Delores passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2007at the Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, ND, reaching the age of 77 years. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Elna Nigg; Merville & Elinor Nigg; Laverne Nigg; Leo Nigg; Glenn Nigg; Barbara Nigg; Lois Nigg; and Vivian Nigg; a sister, Bernice Granoski; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Remund, and Clarence Granoski.
Delores is survived by her husband, Jim Schwagerl; one son, Bruce Schwagerl; two daughters, Vicki Schwagerl and Jeanne (Mike) Hudalla; a grandson, Dillon Hudalla; sister, Agnes (Roger) Torgerson; brothers, Kenneth Nigg; Donavon Nigg; Jerry (Audrey) Nigg; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
