Funeral services for Mrs. Delores E. Jurgens, age 84, of Milbank, and formerly of rural Wilmot, SD, will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Corona, SD. The Reverend Glenn A. Schultz will officiate. Mrs. Jurgens died on Friday, September 7, 2007, at St. William's Care Center in Milbank. Family members are asked to meet in the church overflow room by 12:30 p.m. Wednesday to attend services. The organist will be Corrine D. Hanson. Visitation will be at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue in the church on Wednesday one hour before services. Pallbearers will be Roland Jurgens, Jr., Gerald Jurgens, Roland Jurgens, III, Joshua Zempel, Tim Zempel, and David Hansen. Burial will be in the Garfield Cemetery, rural Corona, SD.
Delores was born on January 19, 1923, in rural Corona, SD, the daughter of Franz and Ella (Thiele) Ferber. She attended country school in Kilborn Township and graduated from Corona High School. She obtained a two-year teaching certificate from Northern State Teacher's College in Aberdeen, SD. Delores taught in country schools in Roberts County, SD, for several years. She was united in marriage to Roland Jurgens on November 1, 1941, at Sisseton, SD. Following marriage, they farmed near Wilmot. Delores worked as an aide at the Wilmot Schools for six years and later as an assistant plant manager at Dacotah, Inc., in Wilmot for about ten years. Her husband Roland died on October 25, 2004. She entered St. William's Care Center on February 23, 2006.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Corona. Delores enjoyed weaving on a loom and crafts.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her three sons and two daughters: Roland Jurgens, Jr. and wife Sharon, Minneapolis, MN; Gerald Jurgens, Watertown, SD; Charles Jurgens, Wilmot, SD; Sherry Jurgens, Wahpeton, ND; and Kathy Zempel and husband Tim, Wilmot, SD; three grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Kelly, Minneapolis, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband Roland, one infant brother, and two sisters, including Donna Hansen, preceded her in death.
