Funeral services for Debra Ann Spanton, age 46, of Milbank, will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2008, at the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Milbank. Pastor Mike Doran will officiate. Debbie died on Friday, June 6, 2008, at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis, MN, of complications related to Giant Cell Myocarditis. Family members are asked to meet in the church fellowship hall by 1:30 p.m. Thursday to attend services. The vocalists will be her daughters, Heather, Ilia, and Samantha; and Della Dorman. The guitarist will be her son Zachary. The Calvary Assembly Worship Team will provide special music. Visitation will be at the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Milbank on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and in the church Thursday one hour before services. Pallbearers will be Joe Veen, Watertown, SD; Dillon Dwyer, Milbank, SD; Don Donaldson, Maple Grove, MN; Al Gilbertson, Superior, WI; Jeremy Stuckey, Watertown, SD; and Ed Williamson, Clarkfield, MN. Burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery.
Debra was born on March 13, 1962, in Sioux Falls, SD, the daughter of LeRoy and Julia (Donaldson) Stuckey. She lived with her family in Sioux Falls until the age of ten, moved to Big Stone City and resided there until age sixteen and then moved to Milbank. She graduated from Milbank High School in 1980. Debbie was united in marriage to Jeffrey Owen Spanton on May 24, 1980, in Milbank. Following marriage, the couple resided in Milbank. Debbie worked at State Auto Insurance Company as an auto insurance claims adjuster.
Debra was an active member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Milbank where she was a youth leader, Sunday school teacher and taught Missionettes. She lived for Jesus and was on fire for God.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Jeff, Milbank; her three daughters, Heather Johnson and husband Ben, Pine Island, MN; Ilia Spanton, Sioux Falls, SD; and Samantha Spanton, at home; her son Zachary Spanton, at home; her two grandchildren, Evan and Logan Johnson, Pine Island, MN; her mother, Mrs. Julia Stuckey, Big Stone City, SD; her two sisters, Crystal Misterek and husband Nathan, Sioux Falls; and Shelley Welberg and husband Craig, Big Stone City, SD; her brother Randy Stuckey and wife Lori, Milbank; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her grandparents and father preceded Debbie in death.
