Dean Eastman, age 84, of Ortonville, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
A visitation for anyone who wishes to pay their respects will be held on Saturday, January 16, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in White, SD, at a later date.
While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to accommodate gatherings of up to 250 people. The use of face masks by attendees is required, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to keep our facility clean. For those who prefer or require continued precautions, webcasting and/or livestreaming is available in most situations.
Dean Francis Eastman was born on June 21, 1936, in Hendricks, MN, to Louis and Emma (Claussen) Eastman. He grew up and attended school in the Hendricks, MN, area.
On August 29, 1959, Dean was united in marriage with Marlene Stuefen in Hendricks, MN. The couple made their permanent home in Ortonville, MN.
While their home would always be in Ortonville, Dean and Marlene spent their winter months in McAllen, TX, for 14 years. During their time in McAllen, Dean loved to play bingo and participated in ringing the bells for the Salvation Army during the Holidays.
Dean was a hard worker and worked as an auto mechanic for many years. He could also be found tinkering on his own vehicles often. Dean enjoyed listening to Classic Country music and watching his favorite Westerns on television. He loved visiting with his friends and family, driving around on his golf cart, and camping.
Surviving him are his wife, Marlene; sons: Kevin Eastman, Kurt (Kari) Eastman, and Douglas (Heather) Eastman; daughter, Kim (Dennis) Wittrock; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, James Eastman; sister, Karen (Ken) Lipinski; along with many nieces and nephews.
Dean was preceded in death by his twin sons, Rodney and Randie; grandson, Lee; parents, Louis and Emma; and brother, Ted.
