David S. Jorgenson, age 83, resident of Ortonville, MN, died on December 25, 2018, at the Ortonville Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Community Baptist Church in Ortonville. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2018, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Orpheum Theatre at Fairway View Neighborhoods, and will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

David Spurgeon Jorgenson was born February 20, 1935, in Big Stone County to Spurgeon and Hilda Jorgenson.  David attended grade school at District 12 and attended high school at West Central School of Agriculture.  He lived in California for two winters before meeting Jean Brustuen in 1956 at his brother, Conrad's, wedding.  Jean and Dave were wed on June 22, 1957, and they spent their first year of marriage in Minneapolis, where David worked in construction. They later moved to a farm east of Clinton, where they farmed and resided until 2007, when they moved to Ortonville and enjoyed life at the lake. Late in October 2018, Dave and Jean moved to Fairway View Senior Communities in Ortonville.

David was life-long member of Artichoke Lake Baptist Church and was very active in his church duties. David greatly enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting, playing dominoes, watching Minnesota sports, remodeling homes, farming and milking cows, spending winters in Arizona, Schwan’s ice cream, fireworks, and Bit-O-Honey!  Friends and family describe Dave as kind, sweet, big-hearted, gentle, loving, honorable, a gem, a blessing to know...a true gentleman, and a good and faithful servant of God.  He was greatly loved by everyone who knew him.  He will be sorely missed, but we rejoice that he is with his Heavenly Father in his eternal home and we will see him again.

David was preceded in death by his twin daughters: Ann and Beth; his granddaughter, Amelia; his parents; and his brothers: Milton, Charles, and Conrad.

David is survived by his loving wife, Jean; his sons: Mike (Kathy) of Clinton, MN; and Steve (Theresa) of Golden Valley, MN; daughter, Kathy of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren: Alma, Lake, and Jens; step-grandchildren: Ben and Nicki; bonus granddaughter, Stacy (Chris) Shoaff; bonus great-grandson, Leo; sisters: Vivian, Grace, Patti, Corrine, and Susan; brothers: Daniel, Ron, and John; extended family including nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews too numerous to list; and many friends and neighbors who cherished him. Several grand-dogs will also miss his gentle affection.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Big Stone Camp for Christ.  David dearly loved the camp and spent countless hours maintaining the grounds and buildings.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Ortonville Hospital, the staff at the Robert Ross Dialysis Center, and the therapists and nurses from Ortonville Area Health Services for their loving care.  Also, thank you to the staff and residents at Fairway View who made the last few months of his life so pleasant and who have been such a comfort to the family.  We greatly appreciate the love and support offered by our extended family, neighbors and friends - you are a great comfort to us.
