Daryl "Porkchop or P.C." Jonescheit, Sr. was born in Ortonville, Minnesota on May 28, 1942 to William and Elizabeth (Block) Jonescheit. He attended country school and Corona High School. Porkchop and Patricia Cramer were united in marriage on September 11, 1970. To this union two children were born.
Porkchop farmed with his father for a time and then worked road construction and at Ortonville Stone. He became a truck driver and worked for Cody Trucking, Bracht Transportation, and, for more than 30 years, for Hedge and Herberg. He put over three million miles on the road. In the spring and fall, he enjoyed his time farming for Paul Strong and Gayle Hedge. When not in the field, you could find Porkchop helping Al Knippen in the Hedge and Herberg shop, mowing, or removing snow. He was known as Porkchop by many, a name he chose as his CB handle when he was hauling hogs.
Porkchop loved to fish. He was devoted to his family, especially cherishing the time he spent with his grandchildren – texting on the cell phone kept them all connected! Porkchop loved hearing new jokes and got a kick out of telling them to others. He will be remembered for his contagious smile. He was a fighter and had survived cancer and other health issues. After his recent accident, he gave it his all, but could not win this battle. Porkchop took pride in helping others, and would do anything for anyone, always going above and beyond what was asked of him. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Porkchop died on June 6, 2013, at Hennepin County Medical Center, with his family by his side, having reached the age of 71.
Cherishing his memory are his wife, Pat, of Milbank; his son, Daryl (Debbie) Jonescheit, Jr. of Liberty, Missouri; his daughter, Tammi Jonescheit (Nick Westfield) of Ortonville, Minnesota; his grandchildren: Bekah (Josh) Blanch, Aleks Nelson, Bill Jonescheit, Ria Teske, Haeli Teske, and Payton Westfield; an adopted daughter, Linda Jonescheit of Sioux Falls, SD; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
