Darrell Roehl

Darrell K Roehl, age 83, former resident of rural Odessa, died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Good Shepherd Community Nursing Home in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota.

Darrell K. Roehl was born on October 20, 1930, at home in rural Odessa, to Edwin and Elvira (Urban) Roehl. He attended country school at ISD 20 through 8th grade, and graduated from Bellingham High School in 1948.

He attended the University of Minnesota, then enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed on the USS Salem for 4 years. Following his military service Darrell returned to operate the family farm in Odessa. Darrell was a recognized breeder of Charolais cattle.

Darrell was briefly married. He loved dancing, his farm, horses, and his very large steer, Babe. Darrell had a sense of humor and loved to tell jokes.

Darrell is survived by brothers Edwin, Giles, and Noel, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Gloria and brother-in-law Merlin Graff; sisters-in-law: Ernestine (Sam) Roehl, Phyllis Roehl, Delores (Dee) Roehl; and an infant sister.
