Corporal Demetrius Lamont Rice

Demetrius, who attended Ortonville High School, is the son of Valorie Rice, now of Appleton and Raymond White of Chicago, IL. The family lived in Ortonville from 1994 to 2003 and attended the United Methodist Church in Big Stone City, SD.
Demetrius was a member of the 520th Battalion Infantry based out of Fort Lewis, WA and was an infantry specialist. Demetrius is a graduate of the Job Corps at the Hubert Humphrey Center in St. Paul, MN. Later in life, Demetrius wanted to be a computer programmer. In 2000 he joined the U.S. Army. He had been in Iraq since November of 2003. His finance Melinda Murley, 24, is a 2000 OHS graduate and daughter of Marlene Murley; she now resides in Alexandria.
Demetrius enjoyed being with friends, X-box and basketball, as well as spending time with his family.
Demetrius is survived by his mother, Valorie Rice; grand-mother, Azzalee Rice; three sisters, Briana, 18, Emily, 11 and Elise, 8; one brother, Justin, 16; aunts and uncles; and a loving circle of elders, cousins, and friends.
