Conrad Schuelke, age 95, of Ortonville, MN, and formerly of Nassau, MN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Fairway View Neighborhoods in Ortonville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ortonville, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank and will close with a Prayer Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Saturday. Fr. Brian Oestreich will celebrate the Mass and interment will be at Mound Cemetery in Ortonville.

Conrad Paul Schuelke was born on July 10, 1928, in Lac qui Parle County, MN, to Paul and Cynthia (Greuel) Schuelke. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rosen, MN. He was raised on a farm near Bellingham, MN, and attended country school. Conrad worked for several uncles on their farms and with his father on the family farm before entering the Army in January 1951. He served at Camp McCoy and also in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in December of 1952. After the Army, he attended Ag school weekly in Madison, MN, for two years, a benefit for veterans.
Conrad was united in marriage with LaVonne Theresa Adelman at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rosen on June 9, 1953. To this union, five children were born. After their marriage, they farmed and milked cows on a farm near Odessa/Bellingham. Three years later, they moved to Vernon Township in South Dakota where they remained on the farm until 1993. After more than 40 years, they retired from farming and moved to Ortonville, MN.
Conrad was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church in Nassau, MN, and St. John's Catholic Church in Ortonville. He was proud to have served as a church usher for many years and a member of the Saint Anthony Society. He enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends and relatives, listening to old time music and attending dances, and having coffee with friends.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, LaVonne Schuelke of Ortonville, MN; five children: Darlene (Jeff) Wilde of Chaska, MN; Darrell (Tamar) Schuelke of Broken Bow, NE; Paulette (Jim) Anderson of Milan, MN; Jerome Schuelke of Milbank, SD; and Dean Schuelke of Milbank, SD; grandchildren: Scott Wilde (Cate Engelhart), Kristie (Tom) Osmond, Sara (Richie) Reyes, Nicholas Schuelke, Christopher Doney (Noemi Lopez), Nicole (Ryan) Meints, Isaac (Ruth) Anderson, Peter (Andra) Anderson, Tristan Anderson (Acacia Flannigan); great-grandchildren: Noah and Jacey Osmond, Caden and Logan Meints, Owen and Ellie Anderson, and Gabriella Doney-Lopez; brother, Raymond (Clara) Schuelke; sisters: Betty Binsfeld and Margaret (Bill) Werlinger; sister-in-law, Ruthie Schuelke; and many other family members and friends.
Conrad was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, John “Jack” and Wanda Schuelke; brother, Tom Schuelke; brother-in-law, Rich Binsfeld; and grandson, Marc Wilde.
