Colleen Hedge

Colleen Hegde, age 90, of Ortonville, MN, passed away on August 24, 2020, at Fairway View Neighborhoods.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 30, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Big Stone City, SD.

While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to accommodate gatherings of up to 250 people. The use of face masks by attendees is required, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to keep our facility clean.

Colleen Marie (Tippett) Hedge was born on March 16, 1930, in Big Stone City, SD, to Thomas and Frances (Obitz) Tippett. She grew up and spent her life in the local area. Colleen graduated from Big Stone City High School with the Class of 1948.

Colleen worked as an accountant and bookkeeper for Pepsi Company, and for the family trucking business, Hedge and Herberg.  She was an active member of the Big Stone American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed Sunday drives in the country, visiting rural cemeteries, and participating in crop tours. Colleen enjoyed gardening and flowers.

Colleen is survived by her son, Al Knippen of Green Valley, AZ; granddaughter, Annie (Brett) Bailey, of Big Stone City, SD; and great-granddaughter, Athena Bailey. Colleen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gayle; brother, Dennis Tippett; and daughter-in-law, Kim Knippen.

Memorials are preferred to Big Stone Healthcare Foundation, or Abbey of the Hills.
