Colette Kleindl

Colette B. "Kelly" Leenay was born on July 23, 1924, in Graceville, MN, to parents, Stephen and Agnes (Campion) Leenay. She grew up in Graceville with her two brothers and four sisters. Kelly attended school and graduated from St. Mary Academy in Graceville. Following graduation, Colette attended Business College in Minneapolis, MN. After college she worked in Des Moines, IA, before moving to Omaha, NE, to work in 1943. Shortly after moving to Omaha, Colette took a position as a secretary for a general at the Pentagon in Washington, DC where she worked until the end of the war.
On November 28, 1945, Colette and Francis Kleindl were married at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville, MN. This union was blessed with eight children, Elizabeth, David, Richard, Stephen, Michael, Mark, Andrew, and Susan. Kelly worked at the Holy Trinity Hospital in Graceville, for a number of years in the medical records department as well as working at the Graceville Library. Colette treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting with people. Kelly also enjoyed volunteering at the hospital and nursing home in Graceville as well as at the Library. She was very active in CCW, attending many conventions, as well as being very active with D. of I. Kelly also loved her church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She will be truly missed.
Colette passed away on Monday, March 28, 2005, at the Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, ND. She had reached the age of 80. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ruth Leenay, and Joan Kehoe; one grandson, Matthew Boyle; and two great grandsons Colby Pankonin and Gunner Boyle.
Colette is survived by her husband, Francis of Graceville, MN; her children, Elizabeth (Jim) Boyle of Tyler, MN; David (Bonnie) Kleindl of Graceville, MN; Richard (Joyce) Kleindl of Minnetonka, MN; Stephen (Janell) Kleindl of Graceville, Michael (Colleen) Kleindl of Graceville, MN; Mark (Diane) Kleindl of Graceville, MN; Andrew (Julie) Kleindl of Cologne, MN, and Susan (Howard) McNertney of White Bear Lake, MN; two brothers, Kevin (Donna) Leenay of Ontario, NY; and Maurice (Betty) Leenay, of Minneapolis, MN; two sisters, Jean (Lloyd) Schlueter of Madison, MN, and Mona Bonham of Willmar, MN; thirty-four grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends.
