Clayton Steen

Funeral services for Jerome Steen, age 77, were held on September 18, 2008, at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank. The Reverend Dr. DeVern Schwenn officiated. Pallbearers were James Radtke, Dale Martig, Bill Thyne, Charles Lindquist, Scott Mundal, and Jim Stotesbery. Burial was in the Milbank City Cemetery.


Jerome was born on October 3, 1930, at Danvers, MN, the oldest son of John B. and Della (Fragodt) Steen. He spent his early school years in Benson, MN, and graduated from Clinton High School, Clinton, MN, in the class of 1948.

He served his country in the U.S. Army for two years at the rank of corporal. After leaving the service, he farmed with his Dad. He was married to Eleanor Radtke from Twin Brooks, SD, on October 8, 1961.

In the fall of 1962 he started hauling LP gas for Midland Cooperatives. In 1965 he worked full-time hauling propane gas in Winthrop, MN, for twenty years when he retired.

He and his wife bought the Steen farm which they named Steen Acres. They lived there until Jerome got sick and passed away. Jerome liked Danny O'Donnell music and the Renfro Valley Gatherin.

He was survived by his wife. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
