Clarice Ann Johnson, the daughter of Louis and Clara (Windslow) Forde was born September 24, 1931 in Pelican Rapids, MN. She attended and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. She was united in marriage to Algot Johnson of Pelican Rapids in Denver, Colorado on June 30, 1951. They made their home in Elbow Lake, MN, where they owned and operated the grocery store for 16 years. Clarice and Algot moved around while Algot worked on small motors and appliances. Clarice worked at different places: Jennie-O’s in Litchfield, MN for 7 years, dietary and housekeeping in Wyoming, she worked at a nursing home in Rapid City, and the job she enjoyed the most was working for the Soo Line in Glenwood as a cleaning lady, where she got the nickname the “cookie lady”. On December 17, 2007, Clarice moved into the West Wind Village in Morris, MN.
Clarice enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing quilts. Her children and grandchildren loved her cooking and baking. She loved being with friends and family.
Clarice passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at West Wind Village in Morris, MN.
She will be missed by all her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Stephen (Elaine) Johnson of Willmar, MN, Calvin Johnson of East Bethal, MN, Wayne (Rita) Johnson of Pittsburg, TX, January (Margaret) Johnson of Taro, IA. Kevin (Kim) Johnson of Graceville, MN; grandchildren: Jeanny, Gary, Eric, Jessica, David, Karawood, Kaylee, Kaleb, Kassie, Katrina Johnson; 4 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Algot; children, Douglas and Gary; and one brother, Rubin.
