Clarence Johnson

Funeral Services for Clarence "Jiggs" Johnson will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Eidskog Lutheran Church in Rural Ortonville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Pastor John Ragan will be officiating and burial will be in the Mound Cemetery in Ortonville.

Clarence "Jiggs" Leonard Johnson was born on June 9, 1918 at his family home in Otrey Township to parents Edward and Inga (Olson) Johnson. Jiggs was baptized and confirmed at Eidskog Lutheran Church. He attended country school until the 8th grade, and after his schooling, Jiggs continued to live with his parents and began farming.

On October 18, 1951, Jiggs was united in marriage to Marjorie Fern Luchsinger. They built a home on the family homestead, where they farmed and looked after Jiggs' parents. Jiggs and Marge were a loving uncle and aunt to their nieces and nephews who they cherished.

Jiggs and Marge loved to dance! They also enjoyed fishing, card playing and traveling to casinos. Jiggs was a life long member of Eidskog Lutheran Church where he was active and never missed a service. Jiggs was very sociable; he was a good, honest man who was content with what he had.

In 2007, Jiggs moved off the farm and into Fairway View in Ortonville. He died on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Northridge Residence in Ortonville; he had lived to reach the age of 92 years and 8 months.

Jiggs is survived by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many other extended family and friends.

Jiggs is preceded in death by his wife, Marge; his parents; Edward and Inga; brother, Marvin; and sisters: Emily Folkens and Albertine Weinman.
