Clara Mable(Adams) Hein was born in Sauk Rapids, MN, on October 3, 1921, to the parents of Gust and Edna (Frazier)Adams. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith and confirmed on October 25, 1939, at Osakis Lutheran Church in Osakis, MN.
Clara lived near Sartell, MN, until the second grade. She did not begin school until she reached the age of 8 years because she had too great a distance to walk. They then moved to Sauk Rapids, MN, where she attended school until she moved to Watab, MN. Clara also attended school in Sauk Center, MN.
Clara worked in Minneapolis MN, after high school as a domestic worker. Her employer hunted pheasants in the Odessa, MN, area and brought her along to baby-sit while he hunted. At one of these trips, she met Ben. The were engaged on December 2, 1941, and were married in Minneapolis, MN, on December 20, 1941. Six children were born to this union. Together, Clara and Ben farmed on the family farm until they sold out in 1966 and moved to Sunset View near Ortonville, MN. In 1976, they moved to the Public Access outside of Ortonville, MN, know as "Ben Hein Hill." Clara then moved to various locations in Ortonville until she moved to Northridge in 2000.
Clara enjoyed her trips, especially to Duluth, the Black Hills, and then the month long trip with Debbie to Pennsylvania. She truly enjoyed visiting friends, playing cards, bingo and living at Northridge, especially the bus trips with Doris Scheff and Connie Stock.
Clara passed away on Friday, February 24, 2006, at the Northridge Residence in Ortonville, MN, reaching the age of 84. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben; one son, David; and sixteen brothers and sisters.
Clara is survived by her children, Donna (Gary) Reinke of Richmond, MN; Gloria (Curtis) Arndt of Ortonville, MN; Judy (Jim) Buck of Milbank, SD; Debra (Marty) Kukich of Victor, MT; and Rick Hein and friend Richard Calkin of St. Paul, MN; one sister, Selma Gunderson of Willmar, MN; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; as well as many other family and friends.
