Charles Kirkey

Mundwiler & Larson Funeral Home of Graceville announces the death of Charles 'Clem' Kirkey, age 87, of Graceville, Minnesota. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville with visitation Sunday evening 5 – 7 P.M. at the Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Graceville, with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at Graceville Consolidated Cemetery.
Charles Clemeth Kirkey was born to Charles Ford and Anna Catherine (Heck) Kirkey on June 23, 1925 in Toqua Township, Minnesota. He attended and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Graceville.
Charles was united in marriage to Berdine Hulda Heuer on June 27, 1953 at St. Barnabus Catholic Church in Barry, MN. They were blessed with three children. Charles served his country during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Army. He was a farmer until 1966 at which time he became the manager of the Barry Farmer's Elevator. He held this position for 27 years, always stating that he retired once the new elevator was fully paid for!
Charles was a member of Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post 0297, the Graceville Golf Club, and had participated in the men's bowling league. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting and fishing. He cherished time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years, Berdine, of Graceville; his children: Steven (Sandy) Kirkey of Brookings, SD; Robert Kirkey of Dallas, TX; and Patty Kirkey of Graceville, MN; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his sister, Maragaret (James) Middleton of Chicago, IL.; and sister-in-laws; Linda Kirkey of Farmington, MN. and Margaret Kirkey of Alexandria, MN.
Charles was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Edward 'Luke' Campbell; and his brothers: William Kirkey and Thomas Kirkey.
