Charles "Chuck" Schafer

Charles “Chuck” Schafer, age 77, of Revillo, SD, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Ortonville Area Hospital.

Visitation will be at Mundwiler Funeral Home on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Revillo Community Center in Revillo, SD, on Sunday, June 11, 2023, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Charles Adam Schafer was born on February 8, 1946, in Milbank, SD, to Daniel and Ardeth (Collins) Schafer. He attended school in Revillo and graduated with the Class of 1964.

On April 20, 1974, Chuck was united in marriage with Ruth Streich in Marietta, MN. Together, they were blessed with three boys: Christopher, Corey, and Dustin.

Chuck was a “Jack-of-all-trades” and prided himself on getting things done himself, whether it was fixing something or building it entirely. In his younger years, he built grain bins and later in life, owned and operated Charlie’s in Revillo.

Chuck loved playing games of any kind like Horseshoes, Shuffleboard, pool, and cards. He enjoyed vacationing and taking occasional fishing trips to Canada. Chuck was everyone’s favorite person and loved children. Most of all, his pride and joy were his children and grandchildren; Chuck loved every moment he spent with them.

Left to cherish Chuck’s memory are his wife, Ruth; sons: Christopher Schafer, Corey Schafer, and Dustin Schafer; 13 grandchildren; brothers: Lloyd (Bev) Schafer, Robert (Jan) Schafer, Larry Schafer, Gerald (Val) Schafer, Stan (Barb) Schafer, and Gene (Shelly) Schafer; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Ardeth.
