Catherine Hervert

Catherine Hervert, age 93 of Graceville, MN., died February 13, 2014, at the Grace Home in Graceville.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 17 at 10:00 AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville with burial at Wildwood Cemetery in Wheaton, MN.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 16 from 5-7 pm, with a 7 PM prayer service, at Mundwiler & Larson Funeral Home in Graceville and will continue one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Catherine Belle Shuckhart was born February 8th, 1921, to Charles L. and Margaret F. (Yaeger) Shuckhart in Richardton, North Dakota. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Graceville, Minnesota where Catherine spent her formative years. She graduated from Graceville High School in 1939.

Catherine married Glenn Hervert on June 12th, 1941, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville. They lived in Iowa for three years where Janet was born and then moved to a farm eight miles west of Collis. At that time, they were blessed with two additional children : Phyllis and Carolyn. Later, when Glenn's dad passed away, they moved to the home farm where George and Margaret were born. Catherine enjoyed cards, quilting, knitting and the Collis Extension Club. Catherine was a good mother and housewife who enjoyed raising her children and encouraging all of them to become educated, and therefore productive members of society. She spent time working as a nurse's aide at Holy Trinity Hospital in Graceville.

After the three oldest girls left home, Catherine and Glenn started square dancing. They thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of following the call and socializing with the other dancers. After all of their children were gone, they began to travel. They set foot in every state of the union except one and also visited New Zealand.

Catherine passed away peacefully with her family at her side February 13, 2014 in Grace Home, days after her 93rd birthday. Those meeting the Lord before her were her beloved husband, Glenn; her mother and father; her mother and father-in-law; two sisters, Rose Woolley and Cecil Vold; and two brothers, Warren Shuckhart and Byron Shuckhart.

Those left to celebrate her life are her children: Janet (Tom) Skoog of Sun City, AZ; Phyllis (Dave) Westbrock of Madison, SD; Carolyn (Ron) Andrews of Sun City, AZ; George (Brenda) Hervert of Pompano Beach, FL; Margaret (Don) Seifert of Graceville, MN; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Other celebrants include one sister, Mabel (Robroy) Ashmore of Clinton, MN; one brother, Charles (Mary Lou) Shuckhart of Hawley, MN; and two sisters-in-law, Florence Griffin and Bonnie (Virgil) Lotzer.
