Carla was born on April 01, 1955 to Mabel (Galow) and Sander Nelson in Graceville, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton, MN. In high school, Carla was active in sports and extracurricular activities and graduated Valedictorian of her class.
She met her future husband, Larry Knutson, through a friend; Larry always said that he didn't show up for their first date because he thought she was way too good for him. But Larry won her heart and they married on August 19, 1973. They moved to Odessa, MN and had two children, Sandy and Sarah.
As a family they shared a good sense of humor and a love of music, and took car trips once a year to places like Brainerd, MN and the Mitchell, SD, corn palace (They didn't like going too far from home!) Larry was called to Heaven shortly after the birth of Larry and Carla's first grandchild, Ben Olson, their second grandson, Owen Olson made his way to the world about a year later, and the two boys made their grandma Carla laugh with their wild antics. Carla's family was important to her, and she, her daughter Sarah, and her mother Mabel all helped each other with life's ups and downs.
Carla had many hobbies; including fishing, doing the Sunday crossword puzzle, and watching her flowers bloom in her rock gardens. Carla also liked to cheer on her nieces at their sporting events. Carla had many close girlfriends, and a special friend, Mic Juhnke, who loved her and took wonderful care of her. Carla also took pride in her work at West-Con grain elevator and worked in the grain industry for many years. She was a hard worker and liked her job a great deal, especially working with the customers.
Carla Knutson passed away on December 09, 2004 at the Ortonville Hospital reaching the age of 49 years, 8 months, and 8 days.
Carla was preceded in death by her grandparents Mary and Nels Nelson and William and Minnie Galow; her father Sander Nelson; her husband Larry Knutson; father-in-law Joseph Knutson; and her nephew Dan Knutson.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sandra (Dale) Olson of Alexandria, MN and Sarah Knutson of Sioux Falls, SD; two grandsons, Ben and Owen Olson; special friend Mic Juhnke; her mother, Mabel Nelson; brother Tom (Ann) Nelson; sister Debra (Joseph) Walker; many brothers and sisters-in laws, nieces and nephews.
