Funeral services for longtime rural Strandburg, SD, farmer, Carl R. Kruger, age 85, will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at the LaBolt Covenant Church in LaBolt, SD. Pastor Mark Chapman will officiate. Carl died on Saturday, August 2, 2008, at St. William's Care Center in Milbank. Family members are asked to meet in the church basement by 10:30 a.m. Wednesday to attend services. Verla Peterson will be the pianist and accompany Paul D. Peterson, soloist. Visitation will be at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. and in the church Wednesday one hour before services. Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Cemetery in rural Strandburg, SD. Pallbearers will be Paul Peterson, Kent Englund, Warren Berg, Nelson Ransom, Gary Christianson, and Jeff Schuelke.
Carl was born October 29, 1922, in rural Strandburg, the son of Simon and Mabel (Jaeger) Kruger. He attended school in Strandburg, completing the eighth grade. He was a lifelong resident of rural Strandburg, where he farmed and raised cattle with his brother, Louie.
Survivors include one brother, Louie Kruger, rural Strandburg, SD, and his many friends, especially in the LaBolt community. He was preceded in death by his parents.
