Funeral services for Calvin Reyelts, age 47, of rural Wilmot, SD, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the Community Center in Wilmot with the Reverend Glenn Schultz officiating. Visitation will be at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank on Monday from 5-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Wilmot City Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Military Police Company, 4th Marine Division of Wahpeton, North Dakota and Drake-Sorbel American Legion Post 64 of Wilmot. Active pallbearers will be Scott Steinlicht, Brian Steinlicht, Jeremiah (J. J.) Steinlicht, Austin Reyelts, Tyler Reyelts, Dillon Reyelts, Christopher Reyelts, Lance Reyelts, Terry Reyelts, Jeremy Reyelts, Jordan Reyelts, Tobin Reyelts, Gregory Reyelts, Michael Weber, Andy Weber, Josh Kellen, Jason Kellen, Brandon Carlson, and Hunter Schweer. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Asfeld, Jeff Donnay, Wayne Minder, Jason Pond, Matt Pond, Justin Rowland, Mike Whempner, and former co-workers of Saputo Cheese. Calvin died on Friday, May 25, 2007, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Calvin was born November 20, 1959 at Milbank, South Dakota, the son of Orville and Irene (Gertsema) Reyelts. He graduated from Wilmot High School and attended Dakota State University, Madison, SD. He served in the United State Marine Corps attaining an honorable discharge on April 22, 1986, achieving the rank of Lance Corporal (E-3). He was united in marriage to Lori Schweer on March 27, 1993, in Wilmot. Following marriage, the couple farmed in Springdale Township, rural Wilmot.
Calvin loved playing with his children and all of his nieces and nephews. His hobbies included all sports, cards, board games, and playing with his favorite pets especially his cats. He enjoyed basketball, softball, football, track, cross country, and was a Minneosta Twins fan and the Vikings.
Survivors include his wife, Lori; four children, Heather, Milbank; Mitchell and special friend Danielle, Milbank; Nicole, Watertown, and Crystal at home; one grandchild, Kaylee; his parents, Orville and Irene Reyelts of Wilmot; two sisters Linda (Nick) Steinlicht, Wilmot; and Mary (Russell) Tempel, Wilmot; five brothers, Rodney (Deloria), Milbank; Alan, Wilmot, Roger (Dorothy), Marietta, Georgia; Daniel (Kang Ae), Bennington, Nebraska; Edward (Marcie), Paola, Kansas; his father-in-law, Ervin Schweer of Milbank; six brothers and sisters-in law, Alan and Deanne Schweer, Big Stone City; Diane and Brad Kaus, Eagan, Minnesota; Cindy and Phillip Kellen, Bellingham, Minnesota; Nanette and Tom Weber, Milbank; Dwight Schweer and special friend Betty, Milbank; and Kyle and Sara Schweer, of Milbank; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and mother-in-law, Carol Schweer.
