Betty L. Johnson, age 79, of Ortonville, MN, died Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the Ortonville Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at 11AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Ortonville with Pastor David Tonn officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Wednesday, and interment will take place in Mound Cemetery.

Betty Louise Julius was born January 20, 1939, in Big Stone City, SD, to Fred and Hilda (Holmquist) Julius. Betty lived in Big Stone City until marrying Dale Johnson on June 2, 1957, and moving to rural Ortonville. Betty and Dale have continued to live in Ortonville, spending winter months in Texas since 1995. In addition to being a Homemaker, Betty has worked as a salesclerk and a nurse’s aide.

Betty was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ladies’ Aide, and the church council. She was an active member of the Lakeside Homemaker’s group. Betty liked to read, watch TV, and loved doing craftwork and playing cards. She volunteered at the local food shelf and she liked to try her luck at the casino.

Betty is survived by her husband, Dale; children: Cynthia (Tim) Olson of Willmar, MN; Patricia (Roger) Gonzales of Moore, TX; Vernon (Kathy) Johnson of Ortonville, MN; Rebecca (Jon) Pansch of Graceville, MN; and Bonnie (Todd) Dybdahl of Clinton, MN; sister, Holly (John) Skundburg of Wahpeton, ND; brothers-in-law: Charles (Nancy) Johnson of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Craig Hoff of Fergus Falls, MN; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Harold Weber; and sister, Shirley Carrillo.
