Betty Ann (Threadgold) Anderson was born on December 19, 1950, to Robert and Doris (Mullin) Threadgold. She grew up on a farm near Fedora, SD, where she developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for family and community.
Attending school first in Fedora, Betty then attended school in Howard, SD, and graduated from Howard High School in 1968. She pursued her passion for education by attending college at South Dakota State University. It was during her college years that she met the love of her life, Dale Anderson. Betty’s adventurous spirit led her to London while in college and inspired her lifelong dedication to learning and teaching.
On September 15, 1973, Betty and Dale were united in marriage. They celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage in 2023. Together, Betty and Dale were blessed with four children: Heidi, Hannah, Josh, and Hayley. They made their home in LaBolt, SD.
A devoted educator, Betty taught computer and math at Mount Marty in Watertown, SD, taught in Summit, SD, for two years, before dedicating over 30 years to teaching at Grant-Deuel School. She was not only a pillar in the academic community but also a devoted member of Countryside Covenant Church (LaBolt Evangelical Covenant Church), where she contributed her time to the church board and planning committee, and played a vital role in the youth group and Vacation Bible School.
Betty’s love for family was evident in her countless hours spent driving her children and grandchildren to and from Lake Beauty each summer. Her passions included pheasant hunting, where she often gathered loved ones to ensure they were well-fed and happy. She rarely missed a sporting event for her children and grandchildren, even cheering from afar when unable to attend in person.
Betty was known for her sense of humor and infectious laugh; as well as her culinary skills as an exceptional baker, and her enjoyment of game shows and card games. She frequently spent joyful summers at the LaBolt dam, watching her grandchildren fish and enjoying nature. Her commitment to family was unwavering, as she would babysit her grandchildren whenever possible when they were younger and when they got older, she would regularly check in on them. Betty enjoyed attending family reunions and developed a passion for researching family ancestry. She often went to Emily’s Place for senior meals and good conversation.
Betty is survived by her beloved daughters: Heidi (Dan) Beach of Ashley, ND; Hannah (Branden) Stewart of Aberdeen, SD; and Hayley (Nathan) Harrington of Clarkston, WA; loving son, Josh Anderson of Woodworth, ND; grandchildren: Bianka Stewart, Carter (Maddie) Anderson, Kebba Beach, Keeda Beach, Keegan Stewart, Kellan Stewart, Grace Harrington, and the Harrington twins due in September of 2025; great-grandchild Anderson due in November of 2025; sisters: Kathie (Roger) Nordtvedt, and Jan (Don) Froehlich; sisters-in-law: Kathleen Threadgold, Diane Threadgold, and Karen Layher; brother-in-law, Duane (Sue) Anderson; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
