Funeral services for Bert H. Veen, age 55, of Revillo, SD, will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 11th, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Revillo. Reverend Kim Kanitz will officiate. The organist will be Nancy Meyer. Bert died on Tuesday, September 7th, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.
Family members are asked to meet in the church basement by 10:30 a.m. Saturday to attend services. Visitation will be at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank on Friday from 5-7 p.m. and will continue in the church Saturday one hour before services. Pallbearers will be Joe Veen, Ryan Ebsen, Timothy Goetsch, Lonny Heller, Dwight Peschong, and Arnie Veen. Burial will be in the LaBolt Cemetery, LaBolt, SD.
Bert was born on November 16, 1954, in Milbank, to Fred and Helen (Seezs) Veen.
He graduated from Grant-Deuel High School in 1973.
He married Sandra Hansvold on June 21, 1986, in Summit, SD. To this union three daughters were born.
He worked in construction for Infrasource Underground in the Twin Cities. At the time of his death, Bert was a self-employed carpenter.
Bert was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Revillo where he served as an Elder. He also assisted the church during the winter months with snow removal. Bert was a member of the Milbank Valley Archers.
He loved bow hunting. Bert was an easy-going man who always said, "Don't worry. Everything will work out."
Bert was confident in himself and in his beliefs and didn't worry about what other people thought.
Survivors include three daughters: Jessica Veen, Whitney Veen, and Ashley Veen, all of Revillo; one granddaughter, Bella Rae Veen, of Revillo; his mother, Helen Veen, of Revillo; four siblings: Roxanne Kralicek and husband Dennis, of Yankton, SD; Jon Veen, Rapid City, SD; Rhonda Veen, Revillo; and Sandra Kuchta, Madison, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and his father, Fred Veen.
