Barb Billiet

Barb Billiet, age 72, of Graceville, MN, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Essentia Health - Holy Trinity Hospital in Graceville after a short battle with cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville, MN. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church on Wednesday. Father David Breu will celebrate the Mass and interment will be at Graceville Consolidated Cemetery.

Barbara Ann Billiet was born on July 24, 1949, in Graceville, MN. She was the daughter of Raymond “Buck” and Kathleen (O’Connor) Billiet. Barb was baptized and confirmed at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville. She attended Catholic school and graduated from Graceville High School in 1967. Barb attended Moorhead State University and graduated with her degree in teaching.

For the next 35 years, Barb’s first and only teaching job was in her hometown of Graceville. She taught physical education and health classes. Barb also coached The Shamrock Girls in basketball, volleyball, and golf. She also worked many summers at the Graceville Golf Club.

Since her retirement in 2007, Barb enjoyed many trips with her special teacher friends, outings to the casino, and Ladies Day golf. She was an active member of her community and her church. Barb served on the Essential Health Foundation Board, was the Religious Education coordinator for several years, and was an active member of the Holy Rosary CCW. She was always willing to help out in working or organizing a funeral luncheon.

Barb’s most important role was “Auntie Barb”. Her greatest joys were the times spent with Michael and Alisha and later, their boys. She enjoyed their school accomplishments, sporting events, holidays, birthdays, or just being there to help.

Barb is survived by her brother, Larry (Karen) Billiet of Graceville, MN; nephew, Michael (Cassie) Billiet; niece, Alisha (Steve) Podobinski; and great-nephews: Jack Billiet, Hank Billiet, and Burke Podobinski.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
