Arthur Adolph Henkelman was born on March 1, 1915 to Gustave and Bertha (Luchsinger) Henkelman at the family home in Akron Township. He was baptized on March 23, 1915. Arthur was confirmed in the Methodist faith at First Methodist Church in Correll, MN. He attended country school District #54 until the eighth grade.
On September 27, 1953, Arthur was united in marriage to Grace Stock in Odessa , MN. To this marriage, they were blessed with three children: Julianne, Paul, and Mark. On March 29, 1956, Arthur was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Art spent most of his life farming the family farm until 1968 when they moved to Odessa. He then began working at the Big Stone Cheese Factory until his retirement.
Arthur had a love for farming and horses. He enjoyed walking, reading, and gardening. Art was an avid Minnesota Twins fans. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Art's face would especially light up when he saw his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his good sense of humor and friendly smile.
Arthur died on November 19, 2008 at Northridge Residence in Ortonville, having lived to reach the age of 93 years.
Arthur is survived by Grace, his wife of 55 years; daughter Julianne (Ronald) Beyer of Ortonville, MN; sons: Paul (Gina) of Mankato, MN and Mark (Melanie) of Marshall,MN; grandchildren: Danielle (Matthew) Karels, Krista Henkelman, Jordan Henkelman, Ellen Henkelman, Megan Henkelman, Ciera Henkelman, Jessica Henkelman, Benjamin Henkelman, Hannah Henkelman, and Heidi Henkelman; and sister Lillian Henkelmann.
Arthur is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Ruth Forsberg.
