Funeral services for Mrs. Arlene L. Egan, age 85, of Milbank, will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2006, at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. The Reverend James L. Wiese will officiate. Arlene died on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at the Golden Living Center in Milbank. Family members are asked to meet in the church fellowship hall by 10:00 a.m. Monday to attend services. The organist will be Roger Goosen. Visitation will be at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. Visitation will continue in the church on Monday one hour before services. Pallbearers will be Robb and Brett Egan, Jason and Scott Veen, and Dennis and Marty Wittrock. Burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery.
Arlene was born on November 29, 1920, in Gary Township, Pipestone County, MN, the daughter of Fred and Martha (Schuknecht) Wittrock. She attended school in Clear Lake, SD, through the eighth grade. Arlene was united in marriage to Charles H. Egan on February 24, 1942, at Ortonville, MN. The couple lived all of their married life together in Milbank. She was a homemaker, mother, and wife. Arlene was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Arlene had lived at Middlebrook Circle in Milbank until July 19, 1999, when she entered Beverly Healthcare in Milbank.
Survivors include her five children: Dale Egan and his wife Donna, rural Big Stone City, SD; Marlene Veen and her husband Harold, Milbank; Betty O'Leary and her husband Ed, Charleston, S.C.; Alice Edwards and her husband John, Raleigh, N.C.; and Darlene Egan, Minneapolis, MN; her son-in-law, Richard Klucas, Minneapolis, MN; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; her brother Walt Wittrock and his wife Ursula, Milbank; and many nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles on July 30, 1986, her daughter Mary Klucas; two grandchildren, Sophia Egan and Matthew Veen; one great granddaughter, Megan Edwards, two sisters, Lillie Meisenheimer and Elsie Wright; and four brothers, Erwin, Bernell, Harold, and Raymond Wittrock.
