Anna Hamner

July 22, 1914 — October 22, 2005

Anna "Ann" Hamner was born July 22, 1914 to parents Herbert and Olive (Hayward) Docherty in Blue Rapids Kansas. Upon graduating high school, she worked for a time in the Twin Cities and then as a teacher. On December 16, 1945, Ann married J. W. Edwin Hamner at the Clinton Methodist Church. To this union three children were born; Jean, Lee, and Lynn. Ann and Edwin celebrated fifty-one years of marriage before his death in 1997.

Ann was a simple woman who enjoyed the simple things that life had to offer. Never wanting to waste a minute, she scurried about to get her tasks completed every day. She enjoyed baking homemade bread and pies and was known for her apple pies that she would bake for the county fair. Even if there was work to do, Ann would drop everything to spend time with her family. She enjoyed flying kites with her grandchildren, playing cribbage, and working in her garden. Ann was never known to speak a cross word about anyone and looked for the good in all those she met.

Ann passed away Saturday, October 22, 2005 at the Browns Valley Health Center in Browns Valley, MN reaching the age of 91 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and four siblings; Foster, Kenneth, Helen, and Margret.

Ann is survived by her son Lee (Connie) Hamner of Beardsley, MN; two daughters, Jean (Jim) Nordly of Rochester, MN, Lynn (Greg) Werth of Zumbrota, MN; five grandchildren, Eric, heather, Michelle, Ryan, and Krista; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Douglas. She is also survived by her brother Robert and her sister Mildred.
