Ann Lundberg, age 87, of Ortonville, MN, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Cherrywood Advanced Living in Andover, MN.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Rev. Denise Fossen will officiate the service and interment will be at Mound Cemetery at a later date.

Ann Shirley (Rosenwald) Lundberg was born on July 3, 1935, to parents, Benjamin and Elisabeth (Perbix) Rosenwald in Ortonville, MN. She was baptized on March 17, 1940, as her parents wanted to wait for First English Lutheran’s building to be finished - walking up the isle at the age of four to be baptized. She continued her

walk of faith at First English with confirmation on May 29, 1949, and her marriage to Roger Lundberg on October 22, 1954. Together, they had four children that kept their lives very busy: Thomas Alan, Richard Lee, Barbara Lynn, and Peter Andrew.

All her years of schooling were at the Ortonville Public Schools. She was her senior class president and helped organize class reunions. In fact, she probably spent more years at school than anyone else, since she worked at Ortonville Public Schools for many years after graduation, most of that time as the High School Secretary.

Ann was much more than the high school secretary; she began working in eighth grade at Bill’s Drive-In and also had jobs working as the secretary for First English Lutheran and the Zion/Eidskog parishes. Some of her civic involvements included: serving on the Scout Committee, Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, the OHS Alumni Association, Ortonville Area Healthcare Board, Monarch Heights Board, various boards at First English, the Treasurer at the Big Stone County Historical Museum, and kept the database for the OHS graduates for many years. She even volunteered to cook for the First English Youth for their yearly trip to Canada. Other activities included helping to run Ink-Pa-Du-Ta ski hill, chaperoning band trips, and more. After completing her time as Treasurer of the Historical Museum, she continued to donate much of her time there, carrying on the legacy of her sister, Maggie Sparrow. That led to other opportunities to write grants for the county several times. She worked on a state-wide project on recording cemeteries in Big Stone County, in which she recruited Roger to help her walk all 30 cemeteries in the county, eventually getting all the names recorded.

Ann moved to Cherrywood Advanced Living in Andover, MN, in October of 2022. In January of 2023, she was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer and was placed with Moments Hospice.

Ann loved the outdoors, mowing lawns, feeding the birds, playing cribbage, shuffleboard, and croquet. She participated with the Adopt-A-Highway program for over 25 years with Lundberg Construction.

Ann cared for many but especially loved the elderly and those impoverished of body and/or spirit. She considered the world her church and believed God or beauty could be found everywhere and in most people. Ann’s mottos were: “stay behind the scene but get a lot done” and “it’s not the years in your life that count but it’s the life in your years”.

Ann is survived by her children: Tom and Jill Lundberg; Richard and Tami Lundberg; Barb and Scott Olson; and Pete and Deanna Lundberg; sister, Marion Hvistendahl; sister-In-Law, Mary (Lundberg) Austin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, Benjamin and Elisabeth Rosenwald; husband, Roger in 2018; brothers: Ruben and Ben; sisters: Maggie Sparrow, Liz Patridge, and Lois Schenk; and sister-in-law, Mardy Knip.
