Amy McDonnell

Amy McDonnell, age 47, of Madison, MN, formerly of Graceville, MN, passed away on February 14, 2021, at the Madison Health Care Service Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 22, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. at Mundwiler Larson Funeral Home Chapel in Graceville. Visitation will be held on from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A private graveside service will be held after the memorial service at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Beardsley, MN.

While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to accommodate gatherings of up to 250 people. The use of face masks by attendees is required, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to keep our facility clean. Amy Joy (Gunderson) McDonnell was born on March 25, 1973, in St. Peter, MN, to Chester “Chet” and Carol (Melby) Gunderson. She grew up in St. Peter and graduated from St. Peter High School with the Class of 1991.

On June 5, 1999, Amy was united in marriage with Steven McDonnell. Together, the couple settled in Graceville. Amy worked as a homemaker and raised their children. She also helped Steven with farm chores and fieldwork.

Amy loved animals and flowers. She also enjoyed puzzles and watching sports, especially Vikings football. Amy’s pride and joy were her children. She enjoyed watching them do the things they loved like 4-H and playing sports.

She is survived by her four children: Austin McDonnell, Collin McDonnell, Nick McDonnell, and Olivia McDonnell; mother, Carol Gunderson; brother, Dan Gunderson; and uncles: Steve Melby and Charles Melby.

Amy was preceded in death by her husband, Steven McDonnell; daughter, Laura McDonnell; father, Chester Gunderson; grandmother, Joyce Melby; grandfather, Nordine Melby and friends: Jody and Sarah.
