Alvin F. Maas, age 76, of Odessa, Minnesota, passed away on June 2, 2013 at the Ortonville Area Hospital.
Alvin Franklin Maas was born on November 15, 1936 on a farm north of Canby, Minnesota to August and Agnes Maas. He attended and graduated from Bellingham High School in 1954.
Alvin and Jacqueline were united in marriage on April 23, 1960 and to this union four children were born. Alvin and Jackie made a lifelong home on their farm near Odessa, Minnesota.
Alvin was a member of the First Baptist Church in Appleton, MN where he was a church deacon and church treasurer. In later years, Alvin became a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Ortonville, MN. He was also an Odessa Township officer, county commissioner, member of the National Farmer's Organization, and proud foster parent.
Alvin was a hard worker and a man of many talents. He hauled milk for the Big Stone Cheese Factory, bladed roads & hauled gravel for Glen Huizenga, worked at the Big Stone Canning Factory, and farmed & milked cows in Bellingham and Odessa where he lived.
Alvin enjoyed farming, driving truck for his family farming business, driving tractor (the redder, the better!), spending time with his grandchildren, hunting pheasants & deer with his family and friends, tractor pulls, and savored his share of sweets.
Alvin is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jackie Maas; his children, Paul (Barb) Maas of Ortonville, MN, Michael Maas of Ortonville, MN, David (Ronda) Maas of Ortonville, MN, and Pamela (Tim) Rehn of East Grand Forks, MN; brother, Carl (Arlene) Maas of Odessa, MN; 8 grandchildren, Sarah Maas, Gregory Maas, Seth Maas, Brittany Maas, Shane Maas, Maddy Rehn, Devyn Maas, and Grace Rehn; and many other loving family and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, August and Agnes Maas; brothers, Bernard, Otto, and Victor Maas; and sisters, Rose Meyer, Elaine Kropuenske, and Irene Maas.
