Alvena Carlson

April 19, 1908 — May 20, 2006

Alvena Marie Carlson was born on April 19, 1908, in Moonshine Township, MN, to parents, Erland and Karen (Lavin) Carlson. She was welcomed home by her twin brother, Alvin. As a young girl, Alvena attended country school at Moonshine School District #58. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at the Elim Lutheran Church in Clinton, MN, where she was a life long member.

In her later years, Alvena took on the role of homemaker and care taker, helping her parents and tending to them as they aged. When not tending to her parents, Alvena took pride in working as a receptionist for Dr. T.H. Herder for thirteen years.

In her spare time, Alvena enjoyed visiting with family and friends over a friendly hand of cards. She also enjoyed baking special treats for those that visited. Alvena was a member of Sarah Group where she treasured memories made quilting with the ladies of the group. She will truly be missed.

Alvena passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2006, at the Gracehome in Graceville, MN., reaching the age of 98 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Erland and Karen, brothers, Oscar, Ernest, and twin brother Alvin; and one sister, Elsie.

Alvena is remembered by a sister-in-law, Vange Carlson of Graceville, MN; nieces, Dixie Jacobson, Jeanette Moeller, Virginia Cornelius, Karen Carlson and LaRene Johnson; as well as many great nieces and nephews and extended family.
