Allan Charles, "Charlie", Knopf was born on February 12, 1952 to parents Marvin and Lois Knopf. He was baptized at First English Lutheran in Ortonville and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran in Stillwater, MN. He graduated from Stillwater High School in 1970 and attended St Cloud State College. He transferred to Westminster School of Music in Salt Lake City. During that time he played in local bands and a traveling band that took him to Disneyland. He worked at ski resorts in the Truckee, CA area.
When he returned to Minnesota he worked in construction. Charlie enjoyed the outdoors and the time spent camping with his family. Charlie and his brother Todd learned the joy of hunting and the excitement of fishing from their Dad. Charlie was thankful for the time spent with his nieces and nephews. They will remember his unique way of wrapping their gifts with comic sections of the newspapers! They will also remember his comical and caring personality, his warm smile, and his contagious laugh. As a family we all watched Charlie handle the life he pursued.
He passed away in his residence in St. Paul on July 20, 2011.
He is survived by his parents, Marvin and Lois of Ortonville. Sisters Cindy (Ross) Wohlhuter of Fairmont, and Pam (Steve) Johnson of Bemidji, sister in law Debbie of Madeline Island, WI. nephews, Jon (Alison) and Jordan Wohlhuter, Andy (Brooke) Knopf and nieces Lori (Chris) Rux, Emily (Ryan) Fett and Abby Knopf and six great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by Grandparents Ed and Laura Martinson and Aden and Karen Knopf, his brothers Todd and Carter, and his nephew, Wade.
Say not goodbye for on some bright tomorrow we shall meet again. Blessed be his memory.
