Adelia E. (Thompson) Knutson was born on January 24, 1918, on the family farm in Otrey Township, near Ortonville, MN, to parents, Elmer and Anna (Holmblad) Thompson. She was one of seven children born on the farm. As a young girl, she attended country school in Otrey Township. Her friends nick named her "Babe" and she was even called "Dill Pickle."
Following her education, Adelia met Arnold Knutson. The couple was married on December 31, 1939, at the home of Elmer and Anna. Together the couple made their home on a farm in Otrey Township, where they were blessed with two children, Don and Barb.
In her younger years, Adelia loved attending dances with Arnold. She also treasured the many laughs made with friends while playing cards. She held her family close to her heart and cherished memories made with children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whether making popcorn balls for Halloween or hanging stockings for Christmas, which was her favorite holiday. Adelia always had a hug, tug or witty saying to make you feel special. She took great pride in her gardening and enjoyed cooking for family and friends with the fruits of her labor. Adelia loved her church and was a faithful member, teaching Sunday School and participating in many various activities including choir.
Adelia valued life on the farm and took great pride in working the land with her husband Arnold for 52 wonderful years. She also appreciated the opportunity she had to be a stay at home mother for her children. After Arnold's passing in 1991, Adelia moved to Ortonville.
