Hunter Tillman

Hunter Tillman, age 18, of Spearfish, SD, formerly of Milbank, SD, died on April 16, 2019, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 22, at the church with a prayer vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to Mass on Tuesday. Fr. Gary DeRouchey will celebrate the Mass, and interment will be at Milbank City Cemetery.

Hunter Isak Tillman was born on July 13, 2000, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Eric Tillman and Melissa (Angerhofer) Mohr. He attended school at Roosevelt High School and at Spearfish High School. Hunter loved to create his own music and was learning guitar.

Hunter was always happy and had a smile that could light up any room he was in. He loved playing with his computers and enjoyed playing basketball with his friends. He had a talent of solving a Rubik’s Cube in under a minute! Hunter and his dog, Macee, had an amazing bond, and neither of them could have loved the other any more than they already did.

Hunter was a fighter and even though he had many struggles and trials, he never let how bad he felt get him down. He had such a zest for life, and after he received the gift of life of a new heart, he enjoyed and lived life to the fullest. He received a heart transplant on April 1, 2017, which was perfect because Hunter was such a jokester. April Fool’s Day couldn’t have been planned any better.

Cherishing his memory are his dad, Eric Tillman (girlfriend, Karlee Gusso) of Spearfish, SD; his mom, Melissa (Jason) Mohr of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers: Jared Tillman and Tyler Tillman; step-brothers: Jessy Mohr and Justin Mohr; maternal grandmother, Beth Angerhofer Brown; paternal grandparents: Duane and JoAnn Tillman; paternal great-grandmothers: Audrey Mogard and Dorothy Tillman; two aunts: Sara Johnson and Kari Finberg; along with many cousins and friends.

Preceding Hunter in death are his brother, Brett Tillman; grandfather, Robert Brown; paternal great-grandfathers: Elton Mogard and Vincent Tillman; and maternal great-grandparents: Arthur and Delores Angerhofer.
