Carol Aden

Carol Ann Aden, age 89, of Milbank, SD, died on October 13, 2022, at Avantara. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Living Word Lutheran Church in Milbank. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Rev. Melanie Reiners will officiate, and burial will be at Milbank City Cemetery.

Carol Ann (Seehafer) Aden was born on April 11, 1933, in Corona, SD. She was the daughter of Erwin and Clara (Tietjen) Seehafer.  Carol attended rural schools and graduated from Corona High School in 1951 where she enjoyed being a basketball cheerleader. She was united in marriage with Glenn “Bud” Aden on September 27, 1952, in the parsonage of Christ Lutheran Church, north of Corona.

Carol and Bud farmed together in Vernon Township for 16 years. In 1969, they moved to the Aden family farm in Grant Center Township. In 1994, Bud passed away and Carol moved into Milbank.

She was a faithful member of American Lutheran Church and later, Living Word Lutheran Church. She enjoyed volunteering with her baked goods at the church and working on the bulletin weekly. She was happy to be wherever needed! She enjoyed spending time doing yard work. She loved to watch sporting events, especially high school girls basketball with her good friend, Frances Beachem. For many years, Carol worked with her sisters-in-law painting and staining woodwork for many families in the area.

Left to cherish her memory are her brother-in-law, Darreld Aden; sister-in-law, Lorretta Meister; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Erwin and Clara; husband, Bud; one sister, Dolores Johnson; brothers: James Seehafer and infant brother, Harvey; Godchild, Wayne Aden; and many other relatives.
